Responsibilities

You will assist clients in their recovery process, crisis intervention, and create personalized treatment plans.

 

Assist individuals with self-directed recovery by:

  • Uncovering the purpose beyond the identified mental illness or substance use
  • Discovering possibilities of recovery
  • Tapping into individual strengths related to illness self-management (including developing skills and resources and using tools related to communicating recovery strengths, communicating health needs/concerns, self-monitoring progress)
  • Emphasizing hope and wellness
  • Helping individuals develop and work toward achievement of specific personal recovery goals (which may include attaining meaningful employment if desired by the individual)
  • Assist individuals throughout their recovery journey to provide support in preventing setbacks
  • Be an active member of the treatment team to bring the perspective of the “lived experience”
  • Provide skills-based services to assist clients and families in meeting identified goals (example: coping skills education, parenting skills training, etc.)
  • Work with children, adolescents and/or adults, as assigned
  • Be an agent of change, mentor, support, and advocate
  • Link families to resources in the community, based on needs
  • Collaborate with other Georgia HOPE staff and community partners to ensure effective treatment, service provision and case collaboration

Qualifications

  • Must be a Certified Peer Specialist as a CPS-P or CPS-Y. or eligible for certification.
  • High School Diploma or GED Required. Preferred Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services-related field OR 2 or more years of related experience.
  • Must have a mental health condition and/or substance use disorder, must be in recovery, must be open minded, and must be willing to share personal experiences with mental illness/substance use publicly.
